FP7 ex post and H2020 interim evaluation of Marie Skłodowska-Curie actions (MSCA)

This document presents the findings of the FP7 ex-post evaluation and the Horizon 2020 interim evaluation of the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions. The Marie Skłodowska-Curie actions ensure excellent and innovative research training as well as attractive career and knowledge-exchange opportunities through cross-border and cross-sector mobility of researchers, to better prepare them for current and future societal challenges. Data for the evaluation were gathered through an in-depth literature review, analysis of programme data, online surveys with funded researchers and comparison groups (circa 19 500 responses were gathered in total), 60 telephone interviews with stakeholders, 18 case studies of individual MSCA projects, a bibliometric analysis of MSCA fellows and a comparison group, and a social network analysis of organisations that have articipated in the programme. The results show that the programme is performing strongly in respect of all the evaluation criteria examined (relevance, efficiency, effectiveness, coherence and EU added value). Recommendations for further development of the programme are provided.
