Havana, Cuba – On May 30-31, 2023, the RECOPHARMA Workshop will take place at the Universidad de la Habana in Cuba, bringing together researchers and experts from different institutions to present innovative solutions for removing and recovering persistent pharmaceutical pollutants from wastewater. The workshop will showcase the latest advancements in reagentless processes, adsorption, and other methods for mitigating water pollution.
Speakers at the event include researchers from Universidad Autónoma de Barcelona (Spain), Universidad de la Habana (Cuba), UNIUD (Italy), CIDEM (Cuba), BIOCUBAFARMA (Cuba), CNIC (Cuba), AERIS Tecnologías Ambientales (Spain), and Empresa de Ingeniería del Reciclaje (ISDE, Cuba). The presentations will cover various topics related to the sorption and removal of pollutants, such as platinum-based cytostatic drugs, trace levels of cisplatin, and heavy metals.
Among the presentations are:
- Sponge-loaded spion for adsorption of trans-[CuCI2(NH3)2] by Montserrat Resina from Universidad Autónoma de Barcelona, España.
- Development of a thiol-functionalized sponge for removing trace levels of cisplatin from water by Montserrat López-Mesas from Universidad Autónoma de Barcelona, España.
- Síntesis de Polímeros de Impresión Molecular para citostáticos by Markel Luaces from Universidad de la Habana, Cuba.
- Modified Silica for Platinum Based Cytostatic Drugs Removal from Water by Martina Sanadar from UNIUD, Italia.
The RECOPHARMA Workshop fosters collaboration and knowledge exchange among researchers, industry professionals, and water treatment and management stakeholders. Attendees will be able to learn about innovative techniques, materials, and technologies that contribute to the sustainable management of pharmaceutical pollutants in wastewater.
