The Center for Research and Development of Medicines (CIDEM), Cuba, received on 12.03.2018 in its facilities the researcher of the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB), Montserrat Resina. This visit is framed within the secondments that are going to be carried out within the RECOPHARMA Project, in which both institutions are part of the consortium.
During the first week, Montserrat, Technician of Quality and of Support to the investigation in the UAB, explained to the researchers of the CIDEM the main activities that are carrying out by his Group of Separation Techniques in Chemistry (GTS) of the Department of Chemistry of the UAB.
In addition, Montserrat had the opportunity to visit the CITOX+, plant for the production of cytostatic medicines (CDs), as well as to meet and establish a first contact with the different researchers of the Center. CITOX+, is a business unit of AICA Pharmaceutical Laboratories (BioCubaFarma, Cuba) dedicated to the manufacture of injectable products for different types of cancer.
The RECOPHARMA Project is part of the Marie Sklodowska-Curie Action RISE (Research and Innovation Staff Exchange) which belongs to H2020, the European Union’s most funded program for research and innovation in the world, which allows the establishment of interdisciplinary research networks between Europe and Cuba. RECOPHARMA seeks to reduce the presence of CDs in the waters through a faster, more efficient and cheaper treatment.
