The institute that will be participating in RECOPHARMA will be IPREM “Institut des Sciences Analytiques et de Physicochimie pour l’Environnement et les Matériaux” a mixt research unit, specifically through the LCABIE (Laboratoire de ChimieAnalytiqueBioinorganiqueetEnvironnement). The LCABIE, 30 permanent scientists is mainly conducting research on speciation and isotopic analysis of trace metals in order to contribute to the understanding of biogeochemical cycles and environmental impacts of trace elements and metals in the environment. The laboratory has been pioneering novel approaches to unravel the distribution and fate of metals and metalloid species between different compartments of the environment for more than 20 years. Most of the developments have been achieved by hyphenation techniques using either LC or GC coupled to a variety of detectors. To ascertain the quality of the environmental results, the laboratory has been also developing reference materials, novel sample preparation techniques and speciated isotopic dilution methods to improve both precision and accuracy in environmental determination.
The University of Udine (UNIUD) was founded in 1978 as part of the reconstruction plan of Friuli after the earthquake in 1976. Its aim was to provide the Friulian community with an independent centre for advanced training in cultural and scientific studies.Currently, the University of Udine offers 36 first cycle degree courses and 35 second cycle degree courses. In addition, the University offers postgraduate teaching and research, with a broad and diverse range of training courses, specialization schools (19), university master (6) and doctorate (12) degrees. It has 15.635 students and 678 professorsand researchers. Scientific research is performed and coordinated by 14 Departments and 8 interdepartmental centers and supported by a central administrative office. UNIUD has been involved as partner in many different EU research projects:
UNIUD has competent personnel in administration, economy, legal and planning. The technical and scientific activities are developed with the support of the research and technology transfer office. This office manages complex projects, protects intellectual property and transfers research results to the local area. The structure is supported by a team of 13 specificallytrained employees, who have long-time experiences in coordination and planning leadership.
