RECOPHARMA Features in Virtual Interactive Experience at EU Green Week

The RECOPHARMA project is delighted to be welcoming visitors to our virtual interactive booth at EU Green Week from 1st – 4th June, where we will be showcasing our project as a key initiative working on solutions for recovering pharmaceuticals from wastewater.

The RECOPHARMA Project was born with the purpose of designing, developing, validating and demonstrating an effective treatment to recover the Recalcitrant Cytostatic Drugs (CDs), alongside a programme of exchange of researchers from participating institutions in the project.

It will be featuring at European Green Week 2021 in support of the EU Action Plan toward a Zero Pollution Ambition – a key action of the European Green Deal scheduled for spring 2021. This will help to create a toxic-free environment across the EU by better monitoring, reporting, and by preventing and remedying pollution from air, water, soil, and consumer products. It will also support the post-COVID 19 recovery by helping to rebuild a more sustainable EU economy, creating job opportunities and reducing social inequalities. While its primary focus is the ‘zero pollution ambition’, it will also look at other relevant European Green Deal initiatives, such as the climate initiatives, the upcoming Chemicals Strategy, as well as initiatives in the fields of energy, industry, mobility, agriculture, fisheries, health and biodiversity.

About the RECOPHARMA Project

The RECOPHARMA Project emerged from a need to develop an effective treatment to recover Recalcitrant Cytostatic Drugs (CDs) through the sequential integration of the potential offered by technologies such as Molecularly Imprinted Polymers (MIPs), ReagentlessThermosorption (RTS), Nanocomposites Functional Materials (NFMs) and Advanced Oxidation Processes (AOP).

The RECOPHARMA Project, formed by 8 partners (see partners section), is a Research and Innovation Staff Exchange action, fostering intersectorial mobility between Europe and Cuba.

Initiated on 01/01/2018, during the 48 months of the project, 107 exchanges will be carried out (199 P M). This project is co-financed by the Marie Skłodowska-Curie (MSCA) Research and Innovation Staff Exchange (RISE) of the European Research Framework Horizon2020 (with a budget of 895.000€).Co-funded by the Horizon 2020 Framework Programme of the European Union – Marie Skłodowska-Curie actions
